To begin its 2014-15 season the Segal Centre presents the Off-Broadway hit, Forever Plaid. Directed by Roger Peace, the doo-wop heavy musical will run from February 1st until the 22nd as part of the Festival Montréal en Lumière.
Forever Plaid, written by Stuart Ross, is an ode to the music of the harmony groups of the 1950s. It tells the funny tale of an all-male singing group called “The Plaids”. Tragically on the way to their first big concert they are all killed in a car accident. The four high schoolers are magically revived to enable them to perform the show they were not able to. Jinx (Chris Barillaro), Smudge (Jonathan Patterson), Sparky (Michael Daniel Murphy) and Frankie (Gab Desmond) perform a medley of the hits from the 50s. This is a show that lovers of musicals will eat up with a spoon.
Forever Plaid has been entertaining audiences for decades and that is due to the lovable characters, those great plaid suits and catchy music. The show is enhanced by the fact that a live band is there playing the music.
