giorgio moroder sunglassesWay back when (in the seventies and eighties) Giorgio Moroder was one of music’s top producers of disco music. He made hits for Donna Summer, David Bowie and Blondie.  It is now thirty to forty years later and the man is still making music. For many, many years people, including the members of Daft Punk, have been hoping, praying and actively prodding him for some new music from the man. Well, your wishes have come true. This is pure pop cotton candy music. Wisely he has chosen to use a lot of high profile present-day singers to collaborate with. This keeps things fresh and less dated sounding. You’ll hear guest vocals by the hot Sia, pop rebel Charli XCX and icon Kylie Minogue. Minogue and Moroder on “Right Here, Right Now” is pure pop genius. Even Britney Spears makes a contribution on an interesting remake of Suzanne Vega’s hit “ Tom’s Diner”. The beats are driving and the melodies are great. The grooves will have you up dancing while at the same time the plentiful synths will have you dizzy. Even the three instrumental tracks on the album work. What Moroder wisely does is stay within his comfort zone and does not try to reinvent the wheel.
