Montreal has truly become a city ripe with music festivals – big and small. There is another one that was added to the bunch with the birth of Festival MRCY last year. It attracted 4,000 attendees and featured bands like Metric, Death From Above 1979, Sky Ferreira, and The Barr Brothers. The mandate of the festival was to close the outdoor music festival season, bring music to people living off the island of Montreal (though making it accessible to Montrealers as well) and shine the spotlight on indie music.
This year they are going even bigger and better. Music acts include Alabama Shakes, Kodaline, A$ap Ferg, Marc Miller, Local Natives, The Joy Formidable, July Talk, Battles, Angel Haze, Misterwives, Alaclair Ensemble, and Safia Nolin. The music goes pretty much continuously on the two stages (Scene des Mille-Iles and Scene des Prairies) from 1 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.
On top of the great variety of musical acts you can also take in some visual artists work and chow down at food trucks. The food trucks there will include Landry & Fils, Mr. Crémeux, Mi Corazon, Panthère Mobile, and Roux.
