justin bieber purposeThe Biebs is back and he is feeling guilty. I say this because it seems like every second song on the album is an apology of some sort or another. He assumes a humble and “I promise to do better” stance on many tracks. The most obvious is the single “Sorry” that is playing on the radio presently and at or near the top of charts worldwide. He is trying to worm his way back into music fans’ hearts and onto our iPods. Smart guy. I don’t know if the apologies are heartfelt but the music on the album is good. He and his largely mid-tempo songs are aided greatly by the addition of Skrillex, Ed Sheeran, Halsey and Travis Scott. These people have taken the Canadian pop superstar in a new direction musically and it suits him well. All this is done without forgetting that the main audience for a Justin Bieber song is young ladies. Plenty of attention paid to the ladies and he promises often to treat you all well. The songs like “Where Are U Now” and “What Do You Mean?” are so catchy that even those who don’t consider themselves Beliebers have been downloading these songs at breakneck speeds. Seems like at least musically the young man is back on track.
