Montreal Patrick Watson is offering three pre-Christmas shows for residents of his home town. Since his 2007 win of the prestigious Polaris Music Prize for his album Close to Paradise he has been a major player in the Canadian indie music scene. His blend of cabaret pop, indie rock and classical music is rather unique and has attracted plenty of music fans. Some have compared his style to Pink Floyd, Rufus Wainwright, Jeff Buckley, and Nick Drake.
From an early age Patrick Watson knew he wanted to make music his career. He started off in high school in a ska band and then went on to forge out on his own. He has toured with the like of John Cale, Amon Tobin, The Dears, James Brown, and Feist.
Patrick Watson is his name and the name of his band, so it can become confusing as to who you are going to see live on stage. It is a quartet comprised of guitarist Simon Angell, percussionist Robbie Kuster and bassist Mishka Stein. Their latest album was released earlier this year and is called Love Songs for Robots.
