Some might be hesitant to try this series out due to the film. Either because you hated it or loved it. Those who loved the first film should really not hesitate as it is once again Robert Rodriguez at the helm. He has managed to successfully adapt his film to television. Mostly because it is very faithful to the film version. The down side is that you will pretty much know what is going to happen if you have seen the film. It is essentially the same storyline but drawn out.
A Texas Ranger named Freddie Gonzales (played by Jesse Garcia) is pursuing of the notorious Gecko brothers, Seth (played by D.J. Controna) and Richie (played by Zane Holtz). As they are trying to flee Seth and Richie along with their hostages end up trapped in a bar – a bar filled with vampires.
Admittedly the beginning couple of episodes in the first season were a little slow but if you held on the series got better and in season two it really hits its stride. Looks and ambiance wise you will think you are watching a Quentin Tarantino film at times. In that it is pulpy and flashy looking. Think American Horror Story crossed with Kill Bill. It also has that frenetic Tarantino energy to it in that it bounces around a lot never stopping for a breath. Bottom line is that time will pass very quickly while watching it and you’ll be so involved that before you know it the episode will be over.
