yoko one yes im a witch tooIn 2007 this artist of many mediums released an album entitled Yes, I’m a Witch. Now nine years later she is back with the sequel. Whichever of the artistic mediums she is working in you could never accuse Yoko Ono of not putting thought into what she does. As opposed to focusing on the style of what she has produced there is a definite emphasis on the content. There are plenty of radical ideas contained in this album. And they have remained strong and true until today. Each of the tracks from that 2007 album has been reworked and reinterpreted by modern day producers/musicians. While the level of quality fluctuates plenty there is no denying how interesting this is. For instance, the DJ Danny Tenaglia, who has dabbled with this song plenty in the past, twist on the track “Walking on Thin Ice” is not one of my faves. The string arrangements do not serve the lyrics/vocals well. There is more good than bad though, thankfully. High points include “Catman” by Miike Snow and “Hell in Paradise” by Moby. A true feminist and avant-garde artist. Whether you dig her music or not.
