The subtitle for Cirque du Soleil’s latest show Luzia is A Waking Dream of Mexico. The minds and creative spirits behind this new show have all a long running love affair with the country and people of Mexico. It is out of this love that the seeds of Luzia sprouted. The culture and diversity of that country is on display in the wonderful world created onstage by Cirque du Soleil. Everything involved from the score to the costumes to the characters will forge an emotional bond with that part of the world for all who come to Luzia.
Cirque du Soleil has earned its reputation as the premiere circus troupe in the world due not only to its creativity and the talent of the performers, but because it goes beyond the usual circus fare to offer the viewer a peek into human behaviour and emotion. It is all about humanity – in all its glory.
Besides all the usual talent behind the scenes of Cirque du Soleil this show can brag about having Oscar winner Eugenio Caballero, known for his work with acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro, on board as the show’s sets and props designer. Taking his cues from the show he went for a naturalistic approach to his depiction of nature. Expect a treat for your eyes!
