The country of Australia has produced its fair share of music acts over the years. Acts like the Bee Gees, Air Supply, Olivia Newton-John, AC/DC, Midnight Oil, Lorde, Kylie Minogue, and Tame Impala. Now we have another name to add to the already impressive list. Courtney Barnett, after the release of her first two EPs, garnered so much positive buzz that she even landed on the artists to watch list of both Rolling Stone and The New York Times.
Her career started off as a member of a couple of bands. After playing guitar in a garage grunge band then as a member of psych-country band formed by The Dandy Warhols’ Brent DeBoer. As of 2013 Barnett decided to go it alone.
During the spring of 2015 the singer/songwriter released her debut album entitled Sometimes I Sit and Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit. Critics around the world raved and she earned a Best New Artist nomination at the Grammys along with International Female Solo Artist nom at this year’s Brit Awards. The album also earned her a spot on a couple of Best Album of the Year lists like Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, The Times, and The Guardian.
