Osheaga has become quite a musical force to be reckoned with over its first ten years. With edition 11 they show no signs of slowing down. It has become apparent, especially over the last few years, that they are right up there in quality and big names as a festival like Lollapalooza. The only difference is price. Osheaga remains relatively affordable while the other big festivals will leave your pocketbook a whole lot emptier.
After struggling to gain a foothold in the competitive live music market Osheaga has now established itself as the must attend music festival in the province. And maybe even in Canada. They cater to all types of music fans from rock to pop to soul to hip hop and alternative. They bring in a wide variety of bands/artists including big names like Coldplay, Arcade Fire, Eminem, Mumford and Sons, Kendrick Lamar, The Black Keys, and The Cure while also being the first to introduce fans to music discoveries like Coeur de Pirate, The Barr Brothers, M.I.A., Dragonette, Chromeo, MGMT, Tiga, and Arkells.
This year the line-up is no less stellar with big names like Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Future, Bastille, Death Cab for Cutie, Disclosure, Haim, and Passenger. Artists waiting to be discovered include Elle King, Years & Years, Jack Garratt, Melanie Martinez, Foy Vance, Grimes, Mac Miller, and Mᴓ.
Taking place in the expansive space of Parc Jean Drapeau Osheaga has largely been blessed with great weather over the years with rain rarely making an appearance. And when it has it has not dampened the spirits of either attendee or artists.
