The Man with the 24K Golden Touch – Bruno Mars

bruno mars live 2017231-year-old Bruno Mars’ career has exploded over the past couple of years.  Born Peter Gene Hernandez and raised in Hawaii by a musical family.  Bruno Mars began his career in music at the ripe old age of three-years-old.  He began as an Elvis and Michael Jackson impersonator.  After graduating high school, Mars moved to Los Angeles and signed with Motown Records.  His time with Motown was not a success, but he did gain a reputation as a producer.  In 2009 he signed with Atlantic and soon after he co-wrote and provided vocals for the B.o.B hit “Nothin’ On You” and “Billionaire” by Travie McCoy.  Mars then went on to co-write the hits “Right Round” by Flo Rida and “Wavin’ Flag” by K’naan.  He was cementing his reputation as a superior musical talent.

The release of his solo album in 2010 entitled Do-Wops & Hooligans saw his becoming one of the biggest pop acts of the past couple of years.  The singles “Just the Way You Are”, “Grenade”, “Marry You”, and “The Lazy Song” were big hits.  His sophomore album, Unorthodox Jukebox, has been just as successful with the songs “Locked Out of Heaven”, “If I Was Your Man”, “Gorilla”, “Young Girls”,  and “Treasure” becoming hits. In between his second and third albums he was the featured vocalist on the Mark Ronson monster hit, “Uptown Funk”. Third time was a charm for Mars with another platinum selling album, 24K Magic which spawned hit singles, “24K Magic”, “Versace on the Floor” and “That’s What I Like”.

Bruno Mars has sold 9 million albums and won Grammy, Brit, American Music, and Billboard Music Awards.  Seeing him perform live is a treat as he brings it old school in the R&B and soul vein of music.  Watching him perform you’ll see influences from Prince, Michael Jackson, Little Richard, The Police, and The Beatles.
