Second to Verdi, Puccini is the most celebrated Italian opera composer. Not surprising that he turned to music as it was a big part of his family. Giacomo Puccini studied under his uncle from the age of 16 then attended the Instituto Musicale Pacini. It was there he began writing his first operas.
As is the case with most operas, love and sacrifice is at the centre of Tosca. Diva Floria Tosca (Melody Moore-Wagner) has to endure the cruel police chief Scarpia (Gregory Dahl) in order to save the man she truly loves – Mario Cavaradossi (Giancalo Monsalve). Crime, scheming and passion, all the elements of a thriller, ensue.
