Declaration of War – Boxing Style: Saunders vs. Lemieux

This WBO middleweight title match sees local boy David Lemieux (38-3, 33 KO)take on Brit Billy Joe Saunders. Saunders is the champion, so will defending his title. He realizes that taking on the big puncher Lemieux (25-0, 12 KO) on his home ground is going to be a big challenge. Being wary of that big punch is going to be vital for the champ; though technically he is better boxer. Both men weighed in at exactly 160. There is much at stake here as the winner of this fight/belt would then take on the winner of the May 2018 fight between multiple title holder Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez.

The two undercard bouts are also interesting match-ups. Middleweights Antoine Douglas (22-1-1, 16 KO) weighed in at 159.2 pounds, with Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan (26-2, 18 KO) coming in at 158.8 for their middleweight fight. Cletus Seldin (21-0, 17 KO) and Yves Ulysse Jr (14-1, 9 KO) are also set to face off for their catchweight bout, with a 142-pound contract weight. Seldin weighed in at 141.6, with Ulysse at 141.2.
