Not only is Art Fifa (I know all you soccer/football fans out there that it is an “awkward” name) the only film festival of its type in the Americas, but it is the biggest film festival on art in the world. Oozing with culture and with its finger on the pulse of what is upcoming in regards to trends in the arts. The roster of films here is always wide and varied. From the world of the arts and media arts. Your imagination must be racing as these places are ripe with visuals just begging for the big screen treatment.
The documentaries screened here all will give the viewer a window into an aspect of one art medium or another. This year the opening film is Megalodemocrat: The Public Art of Rafael Lozano-Hemmer by Benjamin Duffield. The artist himself will be in attendance at the opening screening. This is just the tip of an immense iceberg.
The festival began in 1981, so this is its 36th edition. It combines a love for film and art into one very delectable package. Numberswise, roughly 36,000 film goers and 250ish professionals from the film world attend the festival each year. Besides the films there will be other different types of activities to take part in. From cocktails to virtual reality to interactive pieces, they all come together to create an experience that you won’t soon forget. For instance, the opening party will take place on the evening of the 8th and takes place at SAT.
