U2 is a huge band in Montreal as they are in most places on the planet, but it seems like we Montrealers have a special relationship with the Irish band. For God’s sake, they are even credited with saving the Montreal Alouettes. We love ‘em!
The Irish quartet is not a band who does things in a small way. Their live shows and stages are legendary. From huge lemons to stages shaped like a heart the boys from Dublin go large before they go home.
The success of U2 is simply phenomenal. They have won numerous awards, recorded acclaimed albums and have toured the world many times over. These Irish natives not only focus on their music but have shown a strong dedication to social causes such as Amnesty International. Musically , U2 have been praised for their “soul searching lyrics” and smooth pop rock sound.
Attending a U2 show is almost like being at a religious revival meeting. It is more than a concert; it is an experience. A huge collective experience. After over 40 years together the band is incredibly tight. Sometimes we forget that Adam Clayton, Larry Mullins Jr. and to a lesser extent The Edge are great musicians. Clayton and Mullins Jr. lay down the beat and The Edge’s signature sound is still incredible. Bono is a complete drama king on stage. He lives to be on stage. Commanding all attention towards him with his onstage demeanour.
