Here is the perfect example of a band that had one song be such a monster hit that people chalk them up as a one-hit wonder. Scottish duo, comprised of identical twin brothers Charlie and Craig Reid, The Proclaimers began, after some failed punk bands, in 1983 as a folk outfit. Their debut album, This is the Story, had some success in the UK on the back of the single “”Letter From America”, but it was their second album, Sunshine on Leith, that the big hit came with “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)”. It was a hit all over the globe.
People mistakenly believe that they disappeared after this song. But actually they have released nine additional studio albums including one this year called Angry Cyclist. They have never reproduced the success of “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)”.
