Freakpop a la Christine and the Queens

When French singer Heloise Letissier began to perform around London she had drag queens as her backing singers/performers hence the Christine and the Queens. She chose that name as a tribute to all transgender people and she identifies as pansexual. That is where the solo artist’s name came from, her dance/visual/musical style came from her studies in theatre at Ecole normale superieure de Lyon. a couple of EPs were released in 2010 and 2012 then she jumped on the road as the opening act for Lykke Li and The Do.

It was with the release in 2015 of the song “Tilted” that commercial success and international notice began. She also toured North America as the opening act for Marina and the Diamonds. “Tilted” became part of her first full length album, Chaleur Humain. Now in 2018 she has released her sophomore album, Chris, which contains the songs “Girlfriend”, La Marcheuse” and “5 Dollars”.
