Las Vegas, Nevada seems to be a city in which lots of good music comes from. The Killers, Imagine Dragon, Ne-Yo, and Panic! at the Disco are all from sin city. Panic! at the Disco’s line-up is made of solely of Brendon Urie (lead vocals, guitar and piano) right now. Spencer Smith and Urie are childhood friends and helped found the band in 2004.
They released their debut album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, in 2005. The monster single “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” helped the album go double platinum. In a change of musical direction their sophomore album, released in 2008, was heavily influenced by 60s rock groups like The Zombies, The Beatles and The Beach Boys. Next came a return to the theatrical pop rock of their debut album with the release of Vices & Virtues in 2011 and then the album, Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!, which was released in 2013. 2018 saw the release of their most recent album, Pray for the Wicked, which contains the his single “High Hopes”.
The uniform nature (at the time) of Las Vegas music inspired them to try to be different. Without even having played a live show the band was signed by Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz to his label, Decaydance Records. When they signed most of the members of the band were still in high school. Despite the frequent changes of the band’s roster Urie has remained a constant and is the driving forces behind Panic! at the Disco.
