SpongeBob SquarePants: The First & Second Seasons

This is where the animated phenomenon all began. Interesting to look back to the first episodes of this highly successful Nickelodeon series. SpongeBob SquarePants was a hit for well over a decade on Nickelodeon and made it mark on pop culture in this part of the world. Wherever SpongeBob SquarePants finds himself trouble and sillyness is usually not far behind. Fun and frivolity under the sea.

Nothing of the ordinary vein happens to this underwater creature. He is always involved in the zaniest of adventures; it makes you wonder if he ever has a normal day. There is always trouble on the other side of every hill he goes over and it makes you really sympathize with the poor yellow guy. Your heart will go out to him but at the same time he will make you laugh out loud over and over.

Part of its success was due to the fact that it attracted fans of all ages. Not just young people watched the series. The humour is always a little off center, but definitely of the clean variety. This is no South Park, folks! You have to be pretty brilliant in my book if you can write and develop something that appeals to all ages.  It is especially tricky when you attempt that with animation.  A majority of parents or older people tend to roll their eyes at the thought of sitting through one more cartoon aimed at kids. I guarantee you there will be no eye rolling if you watch SpongeBob.  Promise. Some see this animated series as just fluff and that is wrong.  Yes, it can be silly but if you sit there and watch a few episodes then you will realize that there is plenty of good writing in it as well.  Give it a chance.
