With fellow signees Zara Larsson, lennixx, Elliphant, Hotsauce has quickly become soaked in the same glistening spotlight as some of TEN Music Group’s allumni. Vera has recently spent time with Elliphant, writing new with material in LA, along with Diplo’s producer collective, and also Moving Castle as she teases the possibility of a debut full-length to be dropped later this year.
Since both her debut single and mixtape last year; the brash “Bottoms Up” and then the inward-looking “let me show u what love is”, which from both she gained acclaim from The Line of Best Fit, Hillydilly, Ja Ja Ja and most recently received airplay of her latest mixtape “happy/bad” on Diplo’s BBC Radio 1 show, VERA HOTSAUCE continues to churn out constantly shifting themes through her eclectic work, to what is quickly becoming a hallmarked sound, as she announces her latest mixtape “Red Pill” with new cut “Hey Boy”.
With fellow signees – past and present – on Stockholm’s hall-of-fame label TEN Music Group (Zara Larsson, lennixx, Elliphant), Hotsauce has quickly become soaked in the same glistening spotlight as some of the allumni. Vera has recently spent time with Elliphant, writing new with material in LA, along with Diplo’s producer collective, and also AOBeats as she teases the possibility of a debut full-length to be dropped later this year.
The 19-year-old ‘cocky-pop’ trailblazer previews “Red Pill” with ‘Hollaback Girl’-esque “Hey Boy”. It’s an LA-made collaboration with the Moving Castle team – who were described by Mixmag as “the internet collective making a real life impact”. The crisp bedroom-spun production and Hotsauce’s aggro double-tracked vocals go together like dirty fries and a stacked burger.
Vera tells us more about the bombastic bop; “I wrote ‘Hey Boy’ with the Moving Castle team in LA. It was such a fun song to work on because we just played around in the studio and had a blast. I really love this song and I hope it makes people want to party because it’s kind of stupid since it’s not actually about anything, but at the same time it’s extremely entertaining! It’s just about being foolish and having a great time.”
