Also not to be missed: 6 exhibitions, 5 major events
and 4 creative workshops for young and old.

The organizations and artist-run centres L’Atelier Circulaire, ARCMTL and Zocalo are proud to present the 2nd edition of the Montreal Printed Arts Festival. It’s being held from April 4 to 14, 2019 in Montreal, in various locations with the WIP (Work In Progress) as its headquarters on St-Laurent Boulevard. By bringing together so many important parts of the print art milieu, FAIMTL showcases the vitality of this milieu in the greater Montreal area. The programme of free exhibits, workshops, fairs and activities will allow the public to discover the evolution of the increasingly multidisciplinary and hybrid practices present in contemporary printed arts.

FAIMTL will indulge visitors to discover or rediscover the printed arts through 6 exclusive exhibits, 5 major events, and 4 creative workshops. In all, during the 10 days of the festival, 9 artists will exhibit works to the public and more than 50 will be selling their works at the fair and meeting with the public. FAIMTL mobilized 9 Montreal organisations  as programming partners to produce this highly colourful and free festival. For more information, you can visit our website: faimtl.ca

This year’s theme aims to explore the “other” spaces occupied by the printed arts, namely public spaces and virtual spaces. Often limited by technical and production aspects, the printed arts are increasingly seeing these obstacles dissolving and opening up to new possibilities that allow them to invade public and virtual spaces more easily and quickly. Occupying public space also means occupying social space and being able to interfere in daily life, conveying a sometimes political, sometimes poetic message. The virtual space, makes it possible to use a new language, new codes and a new aesthetic that shake up traditions and give a whole new dimension to the printed arts. It offers them a whole new field for experimentation.

The Montreal Printed Arts Festival is made possible in part thanks to support from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des Arts de Montréal.
