The classic horror film is updated for today’s audience. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending if you’re a fan or not) nothing has been changed about the films featuring the man in the hockey goalie mask named Jason Voorhees who kills all young people in his path. It is not complex and does not need to be well acted. It is just about finding unique and scary ways for Jason to kill people.
A group of college-aged students head into the woods near Crystal Lake for a weekend camping trip. While there they all disappear one by one. Apparently Jason Voorhees is not dead.
Clay Miller (Jared Padalecki – from television’s Supernatural) is looking for his sister, Whitney (Amanda Righetti – Role Models), who has been missing for one month. He is circulating a picture of her near Crystal Lake – the last place she was seen. After visiting one cabin and being told to leave by Trent (Travis Van Winkle – Meet the Spartans, Transformers), Clay is joined on his search by Trent’s girlfriend, Jenna (Danielle Panabaker – Mr. Brooks, Yours, Mine and Ours). Soon they discover the rotting remains of old cabins and soon bodies start showing up. Jason is after them and they have to run for their lives.
There are extra scenes in this version that were not shown in the theatre. You get extra long sex and murder scenes. This is a Friday the 13th remake and what did we expect, but a predictable plot and gory deaths? Well, if that is what you are looking for then this film will not disappoint you. If you want a plot that will keep you guessing and things you haven’t seen before then stay away.
