+Album MCID drops November 1st ft. Young Thug, Tee Grizzley, Gojira

First single off of forthcoming album MCID, “16,” has reached #1 on Rock Radio in the country, making this the third #1 song for Highly Suspect at #1 on Rock Radio. “16” is a song about love and heartbreak, unique to the rock scene with not a single guitar on the track. No other song has reached #1 on Rock Radio void of guitars in the last 30 years. Other notable acts to hit #1 on Rock Radio since that date include Pearl Jam, Green Day, and Soundgarden.

On November 1, Highly Suspect will drop their anticipated album MCID in the midst of their sold out current headline tour and upcoming 27 city North American Headline Tour. Tickets go on sale the same date as the album drops on 11/1 and at 10am local time. MCID follows Highly Suspect’s 2016 sophomore album The Boy Who Died Wolf and will showcase 16 new songs in total, including recent singles “Canals,” “16” and “Upperdrugs.”

Lead singer, Johnny Stevens tells the story of his sixteen-year-old relationship through the lyrics in “16” with the band saying, “’16’ is about a first love and a moment of instant heartbreak. The lyrics describe the true story of lead singer Johnny Stevens falling in love at sixteen years old, fostering a relationship for seven years, and feeling elated when she told him she was pregnant with their baby. The song describes his instant devastation the moment of the birth when he found out that the baby wasn’t his, the baby was a different race. Though a wild story, the lyrics capture the gut wrenching feeling of first love lost, betrayal, and regret. This is a song about heartbreak in the worst way you can possibly imagine.”

After dropping a genre-bending collaboration with Young Thug titled “Tokyo Ghoul,” the 3x Grammy Award-nominated rock band surely is turning rock music on its head. The integrated genre of MCID is not just the third full-length project from three guys who approach the rock genre with a hip hop ethos, but it’s a family meeting and an apology from singer Johnny Stevens whose lyrics demand accountability from himself and urge him to be more honest to conquer the demons that made him who he is. With stories of heartbreak and hope, it’s not surprising that his most vulnerable collection of songs is addressed directly to his chosen family, his followers, and his comrades. The transparency and emotion of the new music only showcases the intensity that MCID will have throughout.
