RACISM WITHIN THE GLOBAL PRISM
POURQUOI NOUS DÉTESTENT-ILS, NOUS LES NOIRS ?
BLACK POWER : LA RÉSISTANCE ARMÉE
KKK : LA RENAISSANCE DU KLAN
TUESDAYS FROM JULY 7
PLANET+ offers a theme program every Tuesday at 10 p.m., starting July 7, to deepen reflection and discussion on a hot topic: racism. The series begins with the documentary POURQUOI NOUS DÉTESTENT-ILS, NOUS LES NOIRS? exploring the rise of racism in France. Subsequently, Dan Murdoch’s documentary films BLACK POWER : LA RÉSISTANCE ARMÉE and KKK: LA RENAISSANCE DU KLAN will question the magnitude of the racial issue, which is still as fiery in the United States.
POURQUOI NOUS DÉTESTENT-ILS, NOUS LES NOIRS? Tuesday, July 7, 10 p.m.
This episode of the hard-hitting series “POURQUOI NOUS DÉTESTENT-ILS“, questions the rise of hatred, community withdrawal and the liberation of racist speech in France. The director and actor Lucien Jean-Baptiste seeks to understand why even today, the color of a person’s skin can still carry with it clichés of the last century…
BLACK POWER : LA RÉSISTANCE ARMÉE – Tuesday, July 14, 10 p.m.
In the United States, for a man between the ages of 15 and 34, having black skin increases the risk of being killed by a police officer nine times. And when a policeman pulls the trigger too fast, he’s inevitably cleared by the law. The release of several law enforcement officers who committed the murders of young black boys has led to a real revival of black American activism. In the southern United States, Dan Murdoch met with members of the black civil rights movement to learn more about the various groups that are part of it, their demands, and black power. In conducting the investigation, the British director quickly found himself in an armed militia whose members, strongly opposed to the treatment of blacks by the American police, patrol the streets of their communities and call for change.
KKK: LA RENAISSANCE DU KLAN – Tuesday, July 21, 10 p.m.
The best-known white supremacist group in the United States, the Ku Klux Klan, opened its door to journalist Dan Murdoch. He met with members of the Loyal White Knights, which claims to be the Klan’s largest group. The journalist was able to hear their story in their own words. Protected by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution that guarantees freedom of expression, Klan members can express their most insulting – and delusional – theories against other races and believers of other religions without fear of prosecution.
