The 23rd edition of the Montreal International Documentary Encounters (RIDM) is finally starting! Once again this year, the festival offers the public the best of real cinema by bringing together the great filmmakers and new talents to discover. It’s time to take ownership of this virtual edition!

3 weeks to discover 8 thematic sections

From today until November 18, the RIDM is looking to…

CONFRONT THE HISTORY: 11 films that use cinema to reveal little-known parts of history, criticize official narratives or reflect on the present impact of prominent figures. Essays, pamphlets, performances and archival explorations form an exciting body of work that, from Canada to Afghanistan, Colombia and Nigeria, invites us to rethink our relationship to the past.

EXPLORER THE NATURE: 11 films to explore our relationship to nature and the environment in all its forms: the impact of climate change, the spiritual and mystical relationship to the natural world, the resistance of traditions, animal perspectives and observation of the socio-cultural impacts of our natural life.

TROUVER SES COMMUNITY: 11 films that look at the world of politics, identity issues or social reintegration. From the great account of observation to the autobiographical testimony, the meeting of the other is at the heart of this section.

Psssst! Don’t miss the RIDM launch video!
