SOFI TUKKER have remixed GRAMMY Award winning duo Rodrigo y Gabriela’s collaboration with legendary Brazilian soccer phenom Pelé, “Acredita No Véio (Listen to the Old Man)”. Pelé originally began composing the track, which speaks to how luck and magic don’t guarantee wins, and completed it with Rodrigo Y Gabriela whose prodigious guitar work underscore his vocal. SOFI TUKKER, who have done over 300 livestream DJ sets since quarantine, channel the joy of those sets and their love of Brazil to put their singular stamp on the song. Their remix follows remixes by Galantis and Fat Boy Slim of the track.
Earlier in the month, they celebrated Vice President Kamala Harris by incorporating highlights from her speeches into the January 19th set of their House Tuesday residency on Twitch, check it out here. SOFI TUKKER have been passionate activists throughout their career who have raised funds and awareness for Planned Parenthood, The Trevor Project, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Natural Resources Defense Council, Headcount, Color of Change, To Write Love On Her Arms, Femme House and the March for Our Lives.
SOFI TUKKER recently shared the James Hype remix of “Spa,” their Dionysian collaboration with Icona Pop. The English DJ and producer turns up the seduction, stripping the music down to a driving and dirty rhythm that intensifies the song’s mischievous flirtation.
The group also recently released a wildly popular remix of Lady Gaga’s hit single “911” from her album Chromatica. Their adventurous take heightens the urgency of the original with a frenetic and ecstatic pace. This is the second time their work meets as SOFI TUKKER’s single “Matadora” was featured in Lady Gaga’s Netflix documentary Five Foot Two previously.
