While watching this a thought struck me that it was kind of like Dora the Explorer for adults. Meaning that Animals on the Loose: A You vs. Wild is an interactive film. The viewer gets to make some decisions and what follows depends on the choices made. Different and kinda fun.
Things go by quickly with the film lasting anywhere between 45 and 90 minutes depending on your choices. A simple story in which wild animals have escaped from a sanctuary and well known adventurer Bear Grylls has been called in to help get them back. Sounds rather normal doesn’t it? Catch is here that you will be helping Bear by choosing his next move.
Poachers have cut the power to the electric fence allowing a male lion and a baboon to escape. Bear needs to reset the power to the fence and recapture the lion and baboon before trouble befalls them.
When it comes to getting to the power source as quickly as possible and recapturing the escaped animals there will be several decisions to be made. Which route to make, what to eat and how to trap the lion without becoming his next meal. You will, using your remote, help Bear out by choosing his moves by selecting from the two options.
Bottom line or how successful you will be depends on your survival instincts. Make the right decision and you will be closer to your goal. Choose the wrong one and life will become more difficult. And things more dangerous for the animals and Bear.
A second interactive special will be available on Netflix later in the year.
