Premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Telluride Festival last September as well as the opening of the Vancouver International Film Festival in early October, the film stars Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), Claire Foy (The Crown), Andrea Riseborough (The Ladies of Dagenham) and Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education).

Benedict Cumberbatch stars as British artist Louis Wain, in the extraordinary true story of a brilliant man inspired by both his love of the world and the love of his life, Emily. Famous for his distinctive paintings of cats which have inspired hearts and minds around the world, LOUIS WAIN is a film about an adorable hero with a courageous and charismatic spirit who, seeing the world in a unique way and through a life full of adventure, has continually inspired others to do the same.

After directing the drama series Flowers, actor and director Will Sharpe this time tackles the life of the famous British painter Louis Wain, known for his paintings of cats with human looks and behavior. The artist’s extravagant universe is showcased through a colorful and dynamic aesthetic, reflecting the rich and complicated spirit of the latter, embodied by Benedict Cumberbatch.

Distributed in Canada by MK2 | MILE END, THE ELECTRICAL LIFE OF LOUIS WAIN will premiere on October 22 in its original English version, in a French version and in original version with French subtitles.
