A coming-of-age horror about a 16-year-old named Izzy (Zelda Adams – The Ascent). She tragically suffers from a rare illness that keeps her locked up in the house she shares with her mother (Toby Poser – appeared in episodes of Law & Order: Criminal Intent and The Guiding Light). The house is located on the top of a mountain.
In her teenage years, Izzy starts questioning her illness and whether she really has to live her life in isolation. On the lowdown, she makes friends with a girl named Amber (Lulu Adams – The Hatred). Amber also lives on the mountain with her family. Izzy is happy for the first time in a long time due to her new friendship.
That happiness begins to disappear after Izzy eats a live worm while playing a silly game. After this, she develops an inexplicable, violent and continuous hunger. It seems like this new development has something to do with her family and its secret past.
This is a true family affair. A film about a family with an interesting past made by a family. The Adams family (no not that one!) are behind the scenes and in front of the camera. John and Zelda Adams, along with Toby Poser, wrote and directed the film while Zelda, John and Lulu Adams star in the film. And while it is a low-budget film it does not have the look of one. It does have a rather organic feel to it.
Though it is a horror/creepy film it is a slow burner. Don’t expect things to come at you fast and furious. It creeps along with the creeps. Building up ever so slowly. It would have been nice to have some of the parts be a little zippier though.
