Over the course of eleven days at nine different locations across the city, FIFA (International Festival of Films on Art) was triumphant. A film festival that in its 29th year seems to know no boundaries. It just keeps growing in stature and size. This year attendance was up 10%. An astonishing 227 films from 22 countries were screened. Showing the strength of the entire roster of films, of the 37 films in competition 11 were awarded a prize. The demand was so great that an additional 30 films were included in the schedule. Once again the matinee screenings were quite well attended. Several of the films that were screened at the festival will now be shown on television on ARTV. Check that station’s schedule to catch Sur Les Traces de Tintin, Basquiat, Un Vie, Scrapper L’Art, and Dix Fois Dix Not only were the screenings popular, but the 20 special events presented were also well appreciated. Master classes and chances to meet directors, painters, authors, and actors were all well attended. Keeping up its mandate to promote films on art this year FIFA will go on tour after it is done in Montreal. Screenings will happen in Quebec City, Paris, Ottawa, New York, Washington, and London.
