Judging by the title of Doug Wamble's latest album "Country Libations" one might think this is a country music album. This is not really the case. In fact, the eleven tracks on this album are more along the lines of jazzy blues and gospel. This Tennessee native plays mainly acoustic and has collaborated with the likes of Cassandra Wilson and Wynton Marsalis. "This record to me just says very clearly what I do and what I love" says the 30 year old musician. He is joined by fellow musicians James Blood Ulmer on violin, Charlie Burnham and longtime friends bassist Jeff Hanley, Peter Miles on drums and Roy Dunlap on piano. These guys sound good together and each offers their talent to the group, which makes for some enjoyable music. Some songs that stand out include "Libation #7 Along The Way," "Walking On The Moon" and "The Sweet Magnolia Tree."
