Mamani Keita & Mark Minelli / Electro Bamako

Two artists that are so different can certainly bring their own talents and influences to create music that is innovative. This is the case with Mamani Keita and Mark Minelli. Keita is a native of Bamako and grew up in the tradition of bambara. Minelli is from the U.S.A. and well connected in pop and punk music. On this album "Electro Bamako," two worlds meet. A fusion of sorts. Ketia is backed up by numerous talented musicians that give a modern feel to her African vocals. "N'Ka Willy" is laced with jazz beats that complement Keita's vocals. "Mirri Ye" is charming. "Macary" is an upbeat jazzy tune. "Laydou" offers up some enchanting performances from the featured musicians. "Si Gui Te Mogoson" also is an interesting tune. This type of music will appeal to those who enjoy world music and would like to discover music that is unique. Even if you are not familiar with the language, the music will leave an impression.
