An animated favourite from TV land of the 70's, Scooby-Doo is revisited with the action-adventure team intact. There's vain Fred (Freddy Prinze Jr), shallow Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), smart Velma (Linda Cardellini), goofy Shaggy (Scream's Matthew Lillard), and a computer-generated, big-hearted and naïve, Scooby-Doo. Rowan Atkinson also lends some rubber-faced support. Helmed by Raja Gosnell (Big Momma's House, Home Alone 3), the plot is a tad too complicated and scary for the wee ones, and not nearly subtextual enough for the grownups. Case in point: Shaggy's druggie references are not given full comedic throttle. Still, this is intended for kids, and though not the most entertaining rugrat fare, you can't blame the lovable Great Dane for trying.
