Following in the success of current Canadian R&B chart topper Shawn Desman, Massari releases his self-titled album amid a flurry of press and hype. This trilingual Lebanese native has made his home in Ottawa and is creating quite a stir in the northern urban scene.
Backed by his hit single "Smile For Me" featuring former Bad Boy rapper Loon, his album is getting play across North America. Sonically, Massari proudly displays his Arabic influences, which are heard in the backdrop on many of these dance-floor made tracks.
This debut album will hopefully help jump start plans for a nationwide tour. With Canadian appearances rare in the R&B mainstream, it is encouraging to see such a positive global reaction to his music. With a mix of club-friendly cuts and crooning ballads, this album offers little new; but I will not be surprised to hear Massari's sound emanating from FM hits radio stations everywhere.
