Brian Setzer will rock your roots right. On Rockabilly Riot Volume 1 Setzer takes on the task of bringing back some classics and obscure gems that helped make rock music what it is today. The album has a great raw feeling to it, not over produced but there is something missing. The pizzazz that Setzer usually fills his releases with is nowhere to be found. Well-known tunes like "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Real Wild Child" bring a toe-tapping bounce but the album lacks Setzer's signature fun. All in all, Rockabilly Riot Volume 1doesn't find Setzer channeling Carl Perkins but he comes pretty damn close. Go cat go!
