Sunday was the closing day of the Nouveau Cinema Film Festival and it closed as the most successful one yet. Attendance records were broken and everyone from the co-founder to visiting directors to the public were extremely happy. Last year's worries as to whether or not the festival would return are in the past. Everything about the festival got rave reviews from the public. The staff and volunteers were roundly praised, co-founder Claude Chamberlain's enthusiasm and humour was contagious, crowds enjoyed the fact that many directors made the trip to Montreal to take part in the festival, and as a result the screenings were always either near capacity or completely sold out at this year's festival. It goes to show the other film festivals in Montreal that if you put in the time, effort, and show quality films then the movie viewing public will come; we have not yet reached out limit of film festivals in Montreal. At the closing festivities, Chamberlain was feeling so confident that he has already stated that next year's festival will take place from October 12 to 22, 2006. Circle that date on your calendar and make it a point to visit the 35th annual Nouveau Cinema Film Festival.
