This is one of those unnecessary reviews since everyone who has ever turned on a TV has probably watched "Cheers." But for those of you unfamiliar with this stellar TV sit-com, read on and pick up all of the "Cheers" episodes at your local video outlet.
"Cheers" had a ten year run and was one of the most beloved TV shows of its era, winning several awards (season seven garnered three Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe for Danson, and an American Comedy Award for Perlman) and critical praise.
For the uninitiated, "Cheers" took place at a Boston Bar called Cheers, this was where all of the action went down. The regulars at the bar included: Sam Malone the former Boston Red Sox pitcher (Ted Danson) along with hostess / manager Rebecca Howe (Kirstie Alley), waitress Carla LeBec (Rhea Perlman), bartender Woody Boyd (Woody Harrelson), and barfly regulars Norm Peterson (George Wendt), psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer), Cliff Clavin (John Ratzenberger) and Dr. Crane's love interest Lilith Sternin (Bebe Neuwirth). Every week these characters gathered to share their experiences and to celebrate their achievements or to drown their sorrows in conversation and beer.
Season Seven (1988-89) includes all 22 episodes on 4 discs. This season was especially eventful with the addition of Lilith and guest stars Jay Thomas and Marcia Cross. Carla gets married to Ernie Leblanc (Jay Thomas). Woody strengthens his relationship with Kelly. Love is in the air so re-visit "Cheers" the place where everybody knows your name.
