Susie Arioli burst onto the radar in the late 90s by opening up for the legendary Ray Charles in Montreal and as they say a star was born. During the past couple of years this Montreal artist has garnered more and more press attention and after listening to this album I would have to say that it is deserved. You would be hard pressed to find a more relaxing album on the market. It is a great album to kick your shoes off after work, light a fire and sit in front of it with some port listening to the sounds of Arioli and her band. She has managed to put her own modern thumbprint on some well-known and not so well-known jazz songs by intermingling her excellent band (highlighting Jordan Officer – guitarist/arranger) and her pure voice. Look out for the band as they tend to play many shows in Montreal and the surroundings.
