This is the 5th year of touring from one end of the country to the other that the producers of Bluebird North are undertaking. The Bluebird North Tour is an undertaking of the Songwriters Association of Canada, which allows Canadians up-close and intimate access to some of our country’s best songwriters. Up on stage together the artists talk about their songs, what the songwriting process means for them, meanings behind their songs, and perform a few numbers each.
Past performers have included Sarah Slean, Kim Stockwood, Sass Jordon, Alannah Myles, and Ed Robertson of Barenaked Ladies. The line-ups in each of the 12 cities involve an eclectic mix of musical genres and performers. You will find rappers, folk artists and pop performers all on the same bill.
This year in Montreal the bill includes performances by Emm Gryner, Andy Stochansky, Kardinal Offishal, Dave Gunning, Peter Elkas, and Jonathan Cummings. The whole evening will be hosted by Juno Award winner Shari Ulrich. There will be much discussion about songwriting and two sets with each performer doing a few songs each. Head down to the Main Hall on St. Laurent to enjoy a ‘different’ night of music that will only cost you $10.00.
