Mano Negra

Mano Negra are a French band who were popular in parts of Europe and Asia in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Much of their music is in Spanish and definitely has a strong Latin sound to it. Though their music is Latin in sound mixed with reggae influences it is definitely punk in nature. The band's lyrics are typical of the anti-establishment direction of punk music. Disillusioned by what they saw as the corruption of the American music industry, they decided to not be sucked into it and refused to play in any countries that spoke English. Making the decision to remain on the fringe of the music industry, Mano Negra were still able to sell a healthy amount of records. Unfortunately, the band broke up in 1994. This 2-disc CD is a 'best of' coupled with a live CD.
