After taking a break from recording that lasted 5 years, this is I guess what can be considered a 'comeback' album for Deus. They have returned with a new band roster (Tom Barman – guitar/vocals, Klaas Janzoons – violin/keyboards/percussion, Stephane Misseghers – drums/percussion/vocals, Mauro Pawlowski – guitar/vocals, Alan Gevaert – bass) and an evolved (read: mature) sound. The band is excellent at constructing songs which build up to the crescendo of the chorus; you wait in anticipation for it. Excellent at using typical instruments and still constructing music of many interesting layers. There are even some parts which sound very 70s progressive rock to me. Fans should be happy that they are back despite the long wait and the changes.
