Tom Ze's is a Brazilian artist who has interwoven many little stories to make a sort of operetta. There is nothing 'classical' about this album. Not the music, not the structure nor the vocals. It is fresh, modern and innovative. Ze uses many different instruments, many handmade by himself, in order to create the sounds of a donkey braying, leaves rustling and chainsaws. There are many different voices on the album, including male, female and different choral ensembles. This 16 track album has 16 different styles of pagode (Brazilian musical style) which tell stories about different strong women. It was nominated last year for a Latin Grammy Award. Check out this different sounding album if you are in any way interested in Latin sounds.
