John and Jane Smith (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie) are an ordinary suburban couple with an ordinary, lifeless suburban marriage, or so it seems. Each of the Jones' is hiding something the other would literally kill to find out about: Mr. and Mrs. Smith are actually highly paid, incredibly efficient assassins, secretly traveling the world and killing for hire; interestingly the duo work for competing organizations.
The Smiths discover a new stimulus adding spice to their otherwise mundane marriage, when they're hired to assassinate each other. The result is the ultimate action spectacle, as Mr. and Mrs. Smith put their formidable skills to work and their marriage to the test.
The film has received a great deal of attention mainly due to the rumored "extra-marital" on goings as Brad and Angelina were said to have developed an on-set romance which led to the demise of Brad's marriage to the real Mrs. Smith, actress Jennifer Aniston.
This sexy action adventure is filled with globetrotting action, state-of-the-art special effects and incredible stunts. It's also a comedy with extraordinary characters facing ordinary problems. Mr. & Mrs. Smith also stars Vince Vaughn and Adam Brody who contribute to the comic relief, but it is mostly Brad's antics that provide the real laughs.
The movie starts with a little humor and the action sequences are pretty decent but I was expecting much more from this movie. I enjoyed the first half, but a lack of a story line was clearly evident throughout the rest of the film. I wanted to be entertained and wanted the movie to live up to its hype; it did not.
