This is a decent album from a fairly successful Canadian hard rock band. Silverstein formed in 2000 in the suburbs of Toronto, Ontario. There are some sound problems on a couple of the tracks, but let's just call them 'authentic' recordings. They were recorded before the band had a recording contract and the production values and money that go along with that. Lead singer Shane Told does not have the greatest voice in rock music as he relies a bit too much on a raspy screaming technique, but if you are a fan of the band this does not come as any surprise. The combination of the raw voice, lyrics and music does prove effective in relaying a mood. For true fans the inclusion of live and acoustic versions of previously released songs should be of interest.
