Edmonton-born pianist/composer John Stetch has decided to go back to his trio for this his latest recording and the format fits him like O.J. Simpson's glove. There is an energy and a spontaneity to the recording that is quite refreshing. Jazz is a genre of improvisation, but John Stetch takes it to a new level. Conventional is not this man's middle name. The music is not something you would expect and that is what makes it so interesting a listen. There is nothing predictable about it; John Stetch definitely marches and plays to the beat of his own drum.
