Some rock bands shine brightly for a brief moment and then they are never heard from again. I was beginning to think that Better Than Ezra was one of those bands. We could not fault the three boys from New Orleans for having had other things on their minds due to the flooding/tragedy in their home city, but they are still plodding forward to make music. This is a band that needs some radio play and a hit in the worst possible way. They have really been silent on that front since their last hits of the mid-1990s. More than any other album since (yes, they have recorded!) Before the Robots has a chance of being that album. It is full of radio friendly tunes and catchy pop songs. The vocals and lyrics are about love, loss and heartache, but all set to, for the most part, upbeat music.
