With their fifth album Blood Brothers are trying to demonstrate that they are more than a 'punk' band. Would a punk band use upright bass, organ or clarinet in their music? I think not! Well, Blood Brothers do and their music is increasingly hard to categorize, which is the way they seem to like it. Don't think for one minute that their musical explorations have softened the band in any way; they are still as energetic and loud as always. Lyrically the album is a punk one in that its focus is on rage, stream of consciousness and politics. They, as opposed to many bands nowadays, seem to have some hope for the future and remain positive thinking. Check them out when they hit Montreal on November 6th.
