Le Gros Spectacle

The Wind-Up Dames (Renee Amber and Brieanna Moench) from Alberta will be bringing their own unique brand of show to Montreal to help get us through the winter. "Le Gros Spectacle" is described as a fairy-tale cabaret show. The play is set during the 1950s right here in Montreal and tells the tale of two small-town girls from Alberta who leave for the bright lights of Montreal. They believe Montreal to be the most exciting city on the face of the planet and it really becomes so after they meet a gentleman named Louis Lafortune. Lafortune sells himself to them as the greatest promoter in the world and is the owner of a speak-ease called Le Gros Spectacle. Alice and Frances, being young and unworldly, are ecstatic feeling that they are really getting their 'breaks' in show business. Despite the fact that they find themselves working in a 'girlie' show, the two try to carry on as if they were doing Shakespeare in London. During their time with the show they meet a slew of interesting Montreal residents and have many (mis)adventures. As they say, there's no business like show business!
