This is the 15th anniversary for Cine Gael, which holds an Irish film festival every year. Over the eight days (spread out over 3 months) they screen films there will be 8 feature length films and an evening of award-winning Irish short films. At the opening film, which is "What Means Motley?", the guest speaker will be the Honourary Irish Consul General and Concordia professor, Dr. Michael Kenneally. Afterwards there will be a reception where we can all gather and have a nice chat. At each film there will be a guest speaker and the Weekend Series is a tribute to director Paddy Breathnach. Three of his films will be screened over the March 30-31 weekend with the director himself being at each screening. On March 9th there will be an evening of short films screened. Friday the 13th of April will not be an unlucky night for those who attend the Cine Gael screening as they are showing the recent smash hit "Bon Cop Bad Cop". For the closing screening the organizers at Cine Gael are asking the public which of the films they have screened over the last 14 years is their favourite and they will show the winning film again. Check out the schedule on the website and jig on over for a great film series that focuses on Irish-made films.
