A nice mix of pop sensibilities with the wildness of electronica is how I can best describe Stars of Track and Field's music. They sound one moment like Echo and the Bunnymen then the next Radiohead and then Coldplay. It is the perfect album to download (legally, of course) to your Ipod and listen to while lying in a field on a clear summer night while gazing at the stars. This debut album by the trio out of Portland is an impressive one as it is smart and creates a dreamy atmosphere at the same time. They use a nice juxtaposition of soft vocals with loud music that catches your attention. The band should get plenty of airplay on alternative radio stations.
